Workshop: The role of materials for circular design of consumer products
Chair / Presidente: Mateusz Wielopolski (DE)

The sustainability of a product and most of its environmental impact is determined by the material choice already at the initial product design stages. Hence, understanding the material value chains allows product designer not only to define what will happen to the product at the end of its lifecycle but also what is the value of sustainability features for the end user. This interactive workshop will cover the fundamental principles of product design for a circular economy and focus on the impact of material choices on the entire product value chain. The participants will get the chance to explore and test themselves how the perception of sustainability and willingness to pay is driven by the knowledge of material concepts, recyclability and technology expertise.
