SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Authors wishing to present at the conference should submit a paper addressing this year's topics by filling in the submission form no later than 16 February 2026. Papers must be prepared using our paper template and submitted in MS WORD format (.docx). Both full papers and short papers are acceptable, with a minimum length of 3-4 pages.
Papers may be submitted for oral or poster presentation.
Workshops proposals are also welcome and must be submitted as instructed at this page: Call for Workshops
The official language of the Symposium is English, therefore all papers must be written and presented in English.
In addition, the Symposium may include a session to be held entirely in Italian, in order to facilitate the participation of local delegates. Italian authors may freely submit abstracts for inclusion in both English and Italian sessions.
EVALUATION
Papers will be selected following evaluation by an international and multidisciplinary panel of experts. Final destination (oral/poster) will be established according to the following criteria: request by the author, topic relevance, characteristics of the paper (highly specific, preliminary results, case study) and number of papers received on the same topic.
Acceptance/rejection of papers will be notified to the presenting author by 2 March 2026. Authors not receiving the notification should contact the Organising Secretariat at info@sumsymposium.it
Please note that acceptance of your paper does not automatically register you in the conference. The author who will present the paper at the Symposium (presenting author) must register and pay their entrance fee within 10 days after receipt of the acceptance notification.
Only one presenting author can be appointed for each paper. Each speaker may deliver up to two presentations during the conference.
PAPER PUBLICATION
During the registration procees, ALL presenting authors (including those scheduled for poster presentations) should provide the following:
All papers presented at the conference will be published in a dedicated set of Symposium Proceedings. Additionally, a considerable number of leading papers will be selected for possible publication in special thematic issues on our partner journal, Detritus, the IWWG and IRACE journal indexed on Scopus and Web of Science.
PRESENTATION
Authors presenting their work in an oral session or workshop will be requested to send their PowerPoint presentation by email at info@sumsymposium.it no later than 12 May 2026.
Authors presenting a poster should send the PDF file of their posters by email at info@sumsymposium.it no later than 7 May 2026.
