Palazzo d'Avalos
is one of the most important historical sites on the island and represents a significant example of Baroque architecture. Located in the upper part of the island, the palace was built in the XVI century. Over the centuries, the structure was used as a royal residence and hosted important social and political events. During the XX century, Palazzo d'Avalos served different purposes, in 1930 was turned into a prison until the 1980s. Today, Palazzo d'Avalos is one of the main historical and cultural sites of Procida. In addition to being a tourist attraction, the palace hosts cultural events, exhibitions and artistic performances, thus promoting local culture. Its panoramic location offers a spectacular view of the sea and the island of Ischia.
